A picturesque country farm estate from the 15th century sharing the story of Jersey’s rural life
Take a tour of Hamptonne with a volunteer guide and learn about Hamptonne and Jersey's cider making traditions.
Step back in time to rural Jersey at Hamptonne Country Life Museum, a traditional 15th-century house and farm. The main buildings are named after past owners – the Langlois, Hamptonne and Syvret families – who lived at Hamptonne between the 15th and 19th centuries. You can explore the different farmhouses and meet characters from the past who will tell you about Jersey life through the centuries.
The story of Jersey’s cider-making history is told in the cider barn, or ‘pressoir’, and in the cider apple orchard where you’ll learn about the different apple varieties that make Jersey cider the best of its kind. Take a peaceful walk around the farm and stop for a picnic. Meet our calves, lambs, chickens and piglets – and there is a children’s play area on the grounds too.
